The National Institute of Mental Health estimates that one in five people will experience a psychiatric disability in their lifetime, and one in four Americans currently knows someone who has a psychiatric disability. It is likely that most employers have at least one employee with a psychiatric disability. Basic knowledge about psychiatric disabilities and how it may impact a person’s performance on the job can assist in developing an individualized plan for job placement as well as guiding decisions on disclosure and accommodations.
In two, one-hour related sessions, Dr. Carey will share ideas, strategies and solutions that to help promote successful employment. This presentation and materials further will discuss important considerations for individuals with psychiatric disabilities and employment.
