Social media has become a mainstay in today’s technologically savvy society. While web-based tools can help enhance professional networking and education, client care and education, and overall organizational promotion, care must be ensured to avoid common pitfalls related to areas of confidentiality and boundary crossing. In response, several agencies have proposed and implemented guidelines for the use of social media by health care professionals.  This session will provide an overview of guidelines that provide efficient and effective principles that rehabilitation professionals should consider following to avoid pitfalls in this domain.
