Substance Related Issues & Employment

This course is intended to provide you with an understanding of the nature of substance related issues, treatment and recovery processes, and the importance of employment in long-term recovery. This course is composed of four units.

OBJECTIVES

It is our goal that, once you have successfully completed this course, you will have gained a better understanding of:

  • Substance related issues in the United States and widespread impacts.
  • The nature of substance related issues and who is at risk.
  • The distinctions made by the ADA with respect to substance related disorders.
  • The prevalence and types of coexisting disabilities.
  • How substance related disorders are treated and the difference between treatment and recovery.
  • The importance of employment to the recovery process.
  • The issues and challenges the individual in long term recovery may face when reentering the workforce.

Upon completion of this course, you will have gained a better understanding of:

  • Substance related issues in the United States and its widespread impacts.
  • The distinctions made by the ADA with respect to substance use disorders.
  • How substance use disorders are treated, and the difference between treatment and recovery.
  • The importance of employment to the recovery process.
  • The issues and challenges a person may experience reentering the workforce.
