Motivational Interviewing

Presentation Description: Motivational interviewing is a techniques useful to focus on the change process.  Mr. Harvey Wells will discuss the cycle of change and how motivational interviewing techniques can assist the individual to focus on their desired goal.  This Presentation will include applications and exercises to help participants explore the technique. 

Speaker:  Harvey Wells, Senior Lecturer at King’s College London’s Institute of Psychiatry and King’s Learning Institute 

Harvey Wells  joined Kingston & St George's as a senior lecturer in mental health in 2010, following five years as a lecturer at King's College London's Institute of Psychiatry and King's Learning Institute. He currently leads the mental health pathway of the Diploma/BSc Health Care Practice CPPD programme as well as teaching, leading modules and supervising research projects on the BSc (Hons) Nursing, MSc Advanced Practice and Masters in Clinical Research. Harvey continues to work in practice as an honorary psychotherapist with the South West London and St George's NHS Trust and a senior psychotherapist with a drug and alcohol service. He is a member of the British Psychological Society, the Royal Society for Public Health and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
