The Supported Employment: Discovering Untapped Talent course provides an overview of the principles and practices to assist a person with the most significant disabilities to work. Drawing on a variety of resources created since supported employment emerged, the participant will walk through the supported employment process, from the moment they meet a candidate seeking a job, through the job search, skills training and integration into the workplace process.

- Job Coaching - Teaching the Job
- Support for Sustainability
This training is instructor lead and consists of weekly activities that reinforce learning, with individual feedback to strengthen skill attainment. Activities are based on a case study with valuable resource links provided throughout the course.
Instructor: Marsha Blackmon, M.S.
With over twenty five years in vocational rehabilitation, Marsha Blackmon is a leader of program innovation in supported employment and disability. She possesses extensive experience and expertise in the areas of staff development, training, and supported employment. During the five years she served as Training Director for LRS, she was responsible for developing, organizing and managing in-service training for LRS staff to ensure state and federal compliance and program effectiveness. For over ten years, Marsha served as the Program Coordinator for LRS’ Community Rehabilitation Programs (CRP) where she managed the Supported Employment Program and oversaw the provision of its services to the CRP providers and agency staff across the state of Louisiana.
Marsha received her undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University and a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from the University of North Texas. She is an active member of the National Rehabilitation Association and the Louisiana Rehabilitation Association (LRA) where she currently serves on the Board of Directors.

This course satisfies the basic training requirements for supported employment service providers in Louisiana and Arkansas and has been endorsed by ACRE (Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators). The curriculum is based on competencies outlined in APSE's (Association of People Supporting Employment First) domain model.
