Professional organizations or sponsors of workshops, seminars, and other continuing education activities can obtain UNT WISE pre-approval for their training programs. To have your training pre-approved by UNT WISE, you must follow the instructions on the Pre-approval Form and submit the appropriate documentation to verify that the training meets the program criteria:
- The training is designed to increase the participant's knowledge or skill regarding
the practice of employment services and/or persons with disabilities as described
in the Focus Areas below:
- Job Coaching
- Job Placement
- Job Development and Marketing
- Natural and Ongoing Supports in the Workplace and Community
- Supported Employment
- Employment Planning
- Delivering Services
- Ethics and Advocacy
- Aspects of Disabilities
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse
- Employment Service Staffing
- CEUs on Mental & Behavioral Health topics in relation to Vocational Rehabilitation
- Pre-employment Transition Services
- The instruction provided is at least one clock hour in duration.
- The purpose of the program is clearly defined in terms of its objectives or expected outcomes.
- The program is delivered in an accessible, barrier-free manner so that no one with a disability is excluded. Presentation materials are available in accessible formats, including handouts and support materials. If the presentation is a workshop or conference, the location must be physically accessible.
- The continuing education course is led by a qualified instructor with documented education
and/or expertise to teach the subject matter. Documentation is dependent on the subject
matter and could include:
- Certification in Rehabilitation, a related field, or in the specific subject area.
- Documentation of previous presentations on the subject.
- Published articles and/or books in the subject area.
- Recognition as an expert in the subject by a state or national organization.
- Expertise in the subject area through license, education, or experience.
- Master's level education or higher in the related subject matter field.
- License or certification in the related subject area by a state or national organization.
- The course is accessible and complies with relevant local, state, or national laws related to serving people with disabilities.
Timeline
Applications for pre-approval of a continuing education workshop, seminar, or alternative training may take up to 30 days for review and approval. This will allow for any additional information that may need to be collected, as well as provide feedback to the applicant if there are areas that need to be addressed before they can be approved.

Required Documentation for Approved CE Trainings
The approved sponsor or professional organization shall provide each participant with a certificate of completion/attendance that includes the participant's name, the number of approved continuing education hours, the program title and date(s), and the presenter's signature.
Approved continuing education must maintain records of all continuing education activities for a period of seven (7) years, including names of all presenters, complete course descriptions and objectives, teaching methods, employee attendance sheets for each course, sample certificates of attendance, and evaluation documents from each participant for the specific experience.
